Over the past month, the UniLaSalle Polytechnic Institute hosted 10 R&D engineers from the MICHELIN Group for continuing education. Over the course of four days, participants were introduced to the fields of mining and quarrying, mineralogy, and petrography.
The central theme: understanding the impact of mining methods and the nature of the extracted rocks on the tires of mining equipment and their service life.
In addition to lectures and hands-on exercises on the Beauvais campus, the training included four visits to quarry sites:
- Saint-Germer-de-Fly: clay quarry operated by EDILIANS
- Quend: alluvial sand quarry operated by SAMOG of the LHOTELLIER Group
- Ferques: France’s largest aggregate quarry, operated by the Carrières du Boulonnais Group
- Le Pin and Bernouille: gypsum quarry operated by PLACOPLATRE, part of the Saint-Gobain Group.
A big thank you to EDILIANS, the LHOTELLIER Group, Granulats (part of the CB Group), the CB Group, and PLACO® for helping to raise awareness of the field of mineral resources.
A big thank you to MICHELIN for their continued trust, and congratulations to their representatives, who demonstrated great curiosity.
